Listening Circles

A 90-minute session in which we will be practicing listening to each other, really listening. This might be difficult and might challenge or interrupt ways of listening that are familiar to us.  In this session you are invited to show up fully or as much as you feel comfortable with. It is a place to practice listening and holding space for others.

What this place is NOT:

• This is not a place for intellectual debate.
• It is not a place for talking about whatever comes up for covering up what really wants to be expressed.
• It is not a place for sharing your opinions about anyone’s sharing or feelings (if you feel that need the suggestion is firstly to ask the person if they might be open to your input and if they expressly consent to it, approach them privately).
• This place is not a substitute for therapy, it is intended to be healing as healing often comes from sharing. The people in the group are not mental health professionals, we are humans showing up to practice listening and holding space. If you are in crisis or you think you may have an emergency, call your doctor or 911 immediately.
